DOG CRITIQUES

Judge: Linda Cotton

I was honoured to be asked to judge the dogs at LASER's 25th Championship show and would like to thank the committee for their hospitality that was second to none. Each member of the committee was hard working and extremely friendly. It was a pleasure to judge such a well run show. My stewards did a fantastic job and I would like to thank them for keeping everything running smoothly.

Having been away from the show scene for a number of years I was surprised at how much the entries had reduced in numbers, never the less I had some lovely quality dogs to judge. My main concern is the number of dogs being shown with their tails curling over their back and falling off to the side. I feel that 10 years on is enough time for breeders to have made a significant improvement. Undercoat was almost non existent in most exhibits whilst dentition and mouth pigment overall was very good.

V.D. (2, 1abs)

1st Trueman & Brownridge Ch Jezeve Sherbet JW ShCM 8 yrs old with bags of quality. Correct head proportions with the darkest of eyes. Correct ear set. Good reach of neck and correct shoulder placement. Movement was true with reach and drive. Please to see him go on to B.V.I.S.

M.P.D. (6)

1st Adams Jhava A Kind of Magic 6 1/2 months very promising puppy with many virtues in his favour. Correct head with dark almond shaped eyes. Good ear set. Well defined marking. Really well balanced puppy on the move. Sure to do well in the future. Pleased to see him go B.P.I.S.

2nd Clarke Dortmund Topnotch 7 months old. Longer cast then 1. Strong head with med/dark eye. Good ear set. Good bone and substance. Good coat in A1 condition. Movement good for a young puppy. Lovely to watch him go B.P.I.S.

P.D. (2, 1abs)

1st Gibson Diesters Django Stood alone in this class but deserved his place. Nice clean dog with nothing overdone. Good head on a strong neck. Well laid shoulders. Good strong level topline. Moved well.

J.D. (5)

1st Clarke Dortmund Grenadier. Substantial dog with a strong yet clean head. Dark eyes. Good ear set. Shoulders well laid. Good angulation front

and aft allowing good movement.

2nd Abell Bevanray Reggie Another good substantial dog who needs more time to tighten. Plenty of qualities to like. Good head shape. Dark eyes.

Correct angulation. Just needs everything to pull together.

Y.D. (2)

1st Graham Darkarmar Adam Ant. This dog really caught my eye. Made a lovely shape on the stand. Good quality head. Dark eyes. Med ears, set

correctly. Strong muscled neck. Good shoulders. Firm level topline. Unfortunately he messed about and it was impossible to assess his

movement in the challenge.

2nd Kichenside Cheroho Gamorian Guard. Med size male not quite as mature as 1. Good head with dark eyes and dark mouth pigment. Good

bend of stifle. Not quite balanced enough for me.

N.D. (2)

1st Crane Dortmund Great Expectation at Starrosa. Medium sized strong male. Would prefer a cleaner head. Dark mouth pigment. Good straight

legs. Would like more bend of stifle.

2nd Scott Jianerot Erik. Smaller than 1. Good head shape. Dark eyes. Dark mouth pigment. Very close bite. Slightly upright in shoulder.

P.G. 12 (2)

1st Docherty Dunhill-Hall & Davies Fantasa Just For the Record. Very smart med sized dog with correct proportions. Nice clean head with dark

eyes and correct ear set. Good reach of neck set on well laid shoulders. Good topline. Balanced throughout.

2nd Gibson Diesters Del’Anio. Another well balanced dog. Head a little too much for me. Good strong neck. Straight legs on good feet. Good

topline held on the move. Shown in good fit condition.

L.D. 9

1st Urwin & Pringle Jianerot Baldric. Well balanced compact male. Clean head with correct proportions. Dark almond shaped eyes. Mottled

pigmentation. Good straight legs would prefer tighter feet. Correct front and rear angulation. Moved well.

2nd Benstead Filou Lewirot at Carsal (imp pol). Longer cast than 1 with a good depth of body. Clean head. Med eye. Lovely dark mouth pigment.

Moved out well.

O.D (12, 1abs)

1st Davidson Ch. Firemoons Amis A Vie JW. This dog had everything I wanted. Bone and substance. Excellent head with correct proportions.

Correct shaped dark eyes. Excellent reach of neck sitting on well laid shoulders. Straight legs and tight feet. Strong topline held on the move.

Correct bend of stifle. Strong straight hocks. Powered around the ring with reach and drive. Handled to perfection. Was more than happy to

award him the C.C. Felt disappointed not being able to fight the dogs corner when it came to B.I.S

2nd Osbourne CH. Carsal Leonardo at Icklesborne. Smaller dog than 1 but just oozed with quality. Correct head with the darkest almond shaped

eyes. Neat correct ear set. Straight front legs. Cat like feet. Correct angulation fore and aft enabling him to move around the ring effortlessly. No hesitation in awarding him R.C.C.
